Recruiting a program for student participation in community engagement
In consideration of the social values and benefits pursued by the local community, our university and Dongdaemun-gu Office are collaborating to recruit mentors for foreign language education support for vulnerable groups and education welfare targets in the area. We hope for the enthusiastic participation and interest of students.

- Basic learning mentoring for elementary school students at local children's centers and Keum centers in the area.
- One mentor will be paired with two elementary school students from vulnerable households residing in Dongdaemun-gu who have been left behind in education. Mentoring sessions will be conducted for 2 hours per week.
- Participant benefits:
- Textbook expenses: KRW 40,000 for each mentor and mentee
- Educational expenses: up to KRW 800,000
- Payment of KRW 40,000 per day (based on 2 hours of activity) for a maximum of 20 sessions
- Student support payment of KRW 300,000 will be made after approval of the educational activity report
- Supporters commemorative items will be provided
- A certificate of mentoring (supporters) experience in Dongdaemun-gu
- A confirmation of participation in Kidaari Supporters program

- Preferred Qualifications:
a. Reflecting the high demand for on-site experience programs with public institutions, a mentoring system is being established between Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and Dongdaemun-gu.
b. Basic learning programs are provided for vulnerable residents of Dongdaemun-gu, especially elementary and middle school students who have been relatively marginalized in education during the COVID-19 period, to provide opportunities for improving their basic English skills.
c. Working with the local community to provide opportunities for our university students to participate in public institution field practice and educational volunteering.
A. Activity period: April 2023 to August 2023 (flexible operation with one session of 2 hours per week). The goal is to have a maximum of 20 sessions (total of 40 hours) within this period, with adjustments made to the schedule depending on the mentor-mentee situation.

※All activity expenses are subject to withholding tax regulations
※No daily payment will be made for supporters who want to receive a volunteer activity certificate
※A confirmation of participation will be issued only if there are a minimum of 16 sessions per cohort (maximum of 20 sessions possible)
A. Eligibility: Students of our university who are available for activities during the 1st semester of 2023 (including summer vacation) (including graduate students)
※ Students on leave of absence, those who have postponed graduation, and graduates are eligible to apply based on the 1st semester of 2023.

D. Final Selection Ceremony: Scheduled for the morning of Tuesday, March 28, 2023
※ Individual notification will be given only to the final selected candidates.
※ Attendance at the selection ceremony is mandatory: Participation confirmation certificate can be issued (inquiries about absences will need to be confirmed with the responsible professor)
※ Selection will be canceled if the selected candidate does not attend.
- Korean nationals living abroad or foreigners whose native language is English
- Those who are capable of teaching English
- Those who are interested in teaching basic subjects in addition to language
※ At the request of mentees or mentors who are not studying English, mentoring for basic subjects such as mathematics and Korean may be possible.
